How to get your Spotify and Apple Music links before release day

Get the right links from your distributor and prepare an upcoming release.

Anyone can read this guide. Some steps use features in Pro or Lifetime.

  1. 1

    Deliver your release first

    • Upload your music and artwork to your distributor and pick a release date.
    • Follow your distributor’s recommended lead time so there’s room for review.

Watch out: Submitted is not the same as delivered. Wait for delivery confirmation before looking for platform links.

  2. 2

Ask your distributor for the platform link

    • DistroKid: Goodies → Spotify URI, then pick your delivered release.
    • TuneCore, CD Baby or Ditto: open the release’s delivery or store-status page. Not there? Ask support.
    • Apple Music: ask whether a pre-add link is available for your release.

Tip: An ISRC identifies a recording. It isn’t a listening link or a pre-save.

  3. 3

    Choose a working fan destination

    • Use your distributor’s pre-save or Apple Music pre-add page if one exists.
    • Open it in a signed-out browser to confirm fans can use it.

Watch out: A Spotify URI alone can’t save music to a fan’s library, and unreleased listening links may not open yet.

  4. 4

    Build the upcoming-release page

    • Go to Dashboard → Smart Links → Create a page and choose a pre-release campaign (Pro or Lifetime).
    • Add artwork, release date and any working destinations, then check every service button.
    • When the music is out, edit the same smart link with the live URLs.

Tip: Your shared MelodyLane address never changes, so posts and bios keep working.
